My first visit to the farm of “The invisible wildlife photographer” Bence Máté in Hungary was in 2017.

It is probably one of the most amazing places in the world for hide photography of birds and I wanted to come back one day. I finally got the opportunity in May 2023 – and what an experience!

Costa Rica is known for its strong commitment to the environment and one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. Thus, it is home to unique wildlife and a paradise for wildlife photographers. Personally, I had the privilege to go on a 16-day photography holiday in November 2022.

The Spanish birdlife is one of the best in Europe and in the region of Castile-La Mancha you find one of the most important wetlands in the country. In July 2022 I had the privilege to photograph an amazing variety of bird species in the area for a full week.

The population of brown bears is strong in the north eastern part of Finland nearby the Russian border and a great site for brown bear photography is Martinselkonen Wilds Centre. Usually, wildlife photographers visit the location in the light summer months being ideal with plenty of bears. I took a chance to go in April when the bears are just coming out of hibernation and the taiga is still covered in snow allowing for unique photo opportunities. The downside is no guarantee of seeing bears but the gamble paid off.

Due to Covid-19 I had not been able to travel abroad with my camera for two years. A lot of planned trips had been cancelled or postponed. Therefore, I was really looking forward going to Kerkini in the northernmost part of Greece during January 2022 to photograph the charismatic Dalmatian Pelicans.

Kerkini is one of the most important wetlands in Europe and this artificial reservoir is home to more than 300 different bird species during spring. When sailing in the wetland of Lake Kerkini the photo opportunities are endless. This is definitely a trip to recommend.

In February 2019, I travelled to the Falkland Islands to spend two weeks at five different locations on this remote group of islands in the South Atlantic Ocean only 1,200 km north of Antarctica. It turned out to be an amazing journey with a wildlife second to none.

Two years ago, I went on my first safari. It was a great experience and I decided to return to Mara North Conservancy in Kenya on the 27th September 2018. Like the first visit we stayed at the eco friendly Karen Blixen Camp and were allowed to drive off-road as it is a private reserve.

Two years ago, I had the pleasure to visit Lake Kerkini in northern Greece to photograph the amazing Dalmatian Pelicans. It was such a great experience and I decided to return in January 2018. Despite some challenging weather conditions during my stay it turned out to be another great trip with a lot of new fine images to my portfolio.

For several years I dreamt about going to the world famous farm of Bence Máté in Kiskunsági National Park in Hungary. I finally made it in June 2017 and went there for a whole week with the Swedish wildlife photographer Brutus Östling.

Late October 2016, my wife and I travelled to Kenya with the professional Danish wildlife photographers Uri Golman and Helle Olsen. Ahead of us was an exciting photo safari to Mara North Conservancy in Kenya.

Since I had the opportunity to see and photograph puffins for the first time on a holiday to Shetland Islands in 2011, I have wanted to get a more dedicated chance to work with these charismatic and colourful little birds. Therefore, I was very thrilled to enroll for the NaturesLens workshop on Skomer Island in Wales in June 2016.

My main inspiration to go to Greece came following my purchase of the great book “Dalmatians and Other Pelicans” by the Swedish wildlife photographer Brutus Östling. A search on the internet revealed that NaturesLens in the UK offered a trip in January 2016 and I decided to make a booking – it turned out to be a very wise decision!

In July 2015, I had the opportunity to participate in another photo workshop with the Swedish wildlife photographer Brutus Östling. This time we went to Flatanger on the west coast of Norway just north of Trondheim.

This is a story about my first ever photo workshop abroad. In March 2014, I went to Baatsfjord on the Varanger Peninsula in Norway north of the Arctic Circle to photograph arctic seaducks. Baatsfjord is guaranteed ice-free all year why many seaducks spend their winter here before leaving to breed in Siberia during spring.
