Finland

The north eastern part of Finland near the Russian border is well known for its population of Brown Bears. Being nocturnal the preferred time of year to see the largest predator in Europe is during the light summer nights when the chances of spotting brown bears is high. But when the first bears come out of hibernation in April it is still deep snow and dark nights. Thus, you have to spend the night in a hide at freezing temperatures and bear sighting is not guaranteed. However, when you succeed the reward is amazing.
