Greece

Lake Kerkini in the northern part of Greece is one of the most important wetlands in Europe and a nesting site for the globally endangered Dalmatian Pelican. During winter these huge birds are most attractive with their colourful red pouches and the photo opportunities are very rewarding. However, Lake Kerkini is more than pelicans. In spring the lake is a cornucopia of exiting nesting birds and the impressive bird life is in a league of its own.
